Hola! We are "The Roasting Cooks", a group of people who care about this world. Our mission is to travel from San Diego, CA to Comayagua, Honduras in an ambulance which we will donate to the people of Honduras along with school materials and medical supplies that we can transport with us. Our trip will be about three weeks and we hope you can join us via this blog, social networking, or in person to spend time with you in your city (Mexico, Guatemala El Salvador and Honduras).
Maybe you're a Couchsurfer and want to invite us stay in your place and show how people live in your city. We are open to any suggestions of activities.
Who are "The Roasting Cooks"?
We are:
A pastry chef, with a love to travel, I can't seem to stay in the same country for a long time! So far I have lived in Australia and Canada over the past 4 years and have also travelled these countries as well as the USA and Dominican Republic. I am looking forward to my next adventure I will be part of the Roasting Cooks Rally team, where I hope to learn Spanish, volunteer, and meet new people! Then I will carry onto explore the rest of Central and South America.
I live in Cuernavaca, "the city of eternal spring". Of course it is always hot, the food is wonderful and I live with a cool dog and an amazing cat. I have my little garden and try to be Eco-Friendly in every way possible. I love to travel and my passion is cooking. My Swedish grandfather taught me knowledge and my grandmothers showed me the love of cooking . I always want to try new things, and on this trip I want to eat as much as I can, I love my country and I want to explore those countries that had not been before.
So I am part of the cooks. I'm really anxious to show people a few tricks that I know about the new techniques in the kitchen and in the orchard.
I am the latest addition to the team! With the support of my wife Tatiana, I am helping out with the fundraising because donating an ambulance is a great idea, and I believe in the mission and values of Growers First.
And I love road trips! I hope to join The Roasting Cooks for some or all of the trip.
Why are we doing this?
We love to help, love to travel, we love to meet people, we are young people who want to change something in the minds of people around us. If the people around us are happy, we are happy.
Who else is involved?
There are some organizations that are supporting us on this journey, and we are going to donate the ambulance.
We are raising $1,000 for Growers First to support their projects.
We need to raise $2,000 to cover the cost of the ambulance.
We need to raise $2,000 to cover the cost of gas, food, lodging, medical and school supplies to support to the people of Comayagua, Honduras.
Growers First has teamed up with Go Help to create this MesoAmerica Charity Rally that we are participating in.
